Description

Viewpoints are used to create dynamic moments of theatre by simply existing on the stage. However, Viewpoints are more than just an acting technique to understand your own physicality and more than a directing technique to create “ah-ha!” moments on stage. It is first and foremost the philosophy that to create an organic performance, you must see obstacles as opportunities, and that by simply standing in space, your creativity can spark.

Teacher:

Jill Franklin

My name is Jill Franklin and I am the teaching artist for the Teen Drama class this winter session. What a privilege to work with your amazing children! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have been a theater director for the past eight years, but a teacher for 20 years. Some of my favorite shows to direct have been: Elf Jr., Frozen Jr., Little Women, and Ebenezer's Christmas Carol. I have loved working with children in productions from ages 6-19. I also have been technical director for many shows including most recently Peter Pan Jr. I have trained novice and experienced actors over the years and loved working with a diverse group of students. I am also proud to share with you about my family. I have been married to my husband John for 22 years. We met while in college at The University of Texas at Arlington where we both graduated with our Bachelors and Masters degrees. We are blessed to have six children ages 4-17. Several of my children love being on stage as well! I'm so excited to work with CYT! I look forward to getting to know each of you better in class.
