Alice Audition Workshop

Make your next audition your best audition!

Thu, Mar 21 2019 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Alice - A Wonder-Full Musical parallels the theme of Lewis Carroll’s famous story, Alice in Wonderland, the whimsical tale of a girl whose curiosity propels herself into a wild world of imagination, now with a fresh and enthralling approach. Set in a modern day high school, Alice takes a musical journey down the “rabbit hole”, as she meets unforgettable characters and embarks on an adventure of self-discovery.

Do you know what the creative team is looking for? Come to our free audition workshop and learn what to expect at a CYT audition and learn music and dances that you might see at callbacks. Get tips and techniques to make your next audition your best audition.

There will also be a Q & A and time of fellowship for parents during the youth workshop.

Casting Notes from the Director
I can't wait to work with all of our new and returning students on Alice! This fun, fresh take on the Looking Glass Girl is challenging and exciting. The script, music, and choreography require a wide range of ages, types, and abilities-- there is something for everyone in this show.

A note about your audition song:
Now that you've previewed some of the music from the show, you would do well to choose a personal song that has some of the same ingredients for your general audition. For example, a rock, pop, jazz, or soul feel; a song that showcases your comedic abilities, like Trevor's, or something that has you belting a High C like Alice. Consider Juke-Box Musicals, Rock Musicals, and Rock Operas. Remember that lyrics and themes need to remain age-appropriate, and it does need to be from a musical, not the radio. Showcase your own voice and sing something that highlights your strengths.

I hope to see everybody at the audition workshop, where we'll learn a song and a dance from the show that you may also see in Callbacks, as well as tips for you and a Q&A session for your parents.
