Description

*By Instructor approval only*

This high-energy, stylistically rich class is designed for experienced dancers eager to grow as versatile musical theatre performers. Rather than progressing through a single curriculum, students will rotate through focused 6-week sessions led by different instructors, each specializing in a unique style found on the Broadway stage—such as Jazz, Modern, Tap, Fosse, Ballet, and more.

Through this rotating structure, dancers will build adaptability, expand their dance vocabulary, and learn to quickly absorb choreography in a variety of stylistic languages. Each instructor brings their own creative voice and expertise, offering students fresh challenges and insight into how different techniques, eras, and choreographers shape the world of musical theatre dance.

Weekly classes will include full-body warm-ups, style-specific technique drills, across-the-floor progressions, and choreography that emphasizes storytelling, ensemble work, and performance intention. Students will not only strengthen their technical foundation, but also explore how movement brings characters and scenes to life on stage.

Students will have two special opportunities to share their progress with family during our informal “Family Night: Inside the Studio” events, held at the end of each semester (December and May). These evenings are designed to let families step into the studio and see firsthand what their student has been learning and experiencing each week, and to provide a celebratory atmosphere for students to showcase their growth and skills.

Class Objectives:
  1. Develop adaptability by studying a variety of Broadway-relevant dance styles including Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, and more
  2. Perform combinations from classic and contemporary musicals with technical accuracy and expressive commitment
  3. Explore physical storytelling and character embodiment through movement in each style
  4. Strengthen memorization, musicality, and ensemble precision across changing choreographic approaches
  5. Analyze how different choreographers, time periods, and techniques shape Broadway dance vocabulary
  6. Build improvisational confidence and performance presence across multiple movement styles
  7. Reflect on personal growth as a well-rounded, versatile musical theatre dancer
  8. Showcase selected combinations and exercises in informal, studio-based sharing events
