Description

StageCraft Studio is an exciting and immersive set design and construction class for students aged 13-18, held at the CYT Dallas warehouse. In this hands-on workshop, students will have the unique opportunity to dive into the world of theater production by learning the art and craft of designing and building sets for our spring productions.

Class Highlights:
Real-world Experience: Students will work alongside our experienced CYT Dallas set design team, gaining valuable real-world experience in the field of theater production. From conceptualization to construction, participants will actively contribute to bringing the stage to life.
Hands-on Training: Get ready to roll up your sleeves! This class is all about hands-on learning. Students will use a variety of tools and materials to design and build sets under the careful supervision of our skilled instructors.
Collaborative Learning: Teamwork is at the heart of theater production. Students will collaborate with their peers and our seasoned professionals to create captivating and dynamic sets that enhance the overall theatrical experience.
Spring Productions: As part of the class, students will have the exciting opportunity to work on the sets for our upcoming spring productions. This not only provides practical experience but also allows participants to see their creations come to life on stage.
Safety First: Safety is our top priority. Students will be using power tools under close supervision to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment. Parents should be aware that students are expected to be high-functioning and aware, as they will be working with tools and equipment.

Jared Thornton

Jared has 20+ years in Fine Arts and a long career in the local DFW Arts Industry. In 2020 he joined CYT (as a parent volunteer initially) and hasn't looked back since. His experience in visual arts, project management, and fabrication has translated well to the set design process and the execution of those designs for the CYT stage.
